This is actually 8 x-wings and a nuclear sub, but close enough.
Question: do the xwings damage the mortars through the shields or do they damage the shield health first?
Shields health first..which is a waste really
Here's my current layout, with all vaults now under the shield. In the process of upgrading my turrets. Not real happy with it, but it will have to do for now until I come up with a better idea.
Looks decent..I'd put all turrets inside the walls and I'd also alternate the vaults one on each end instead of both on the same end.
Looks good. I would switch the turrets out to the front as you upgrade them (the one under cunstruction is always in front).
This makes it look easier to come in that way for an attacker. Even though the turrets aren't firing they still have to waste time destroying them. And then they're in range of the ones by the shield generator.
I put the backside of my base at the edge of the map and moved turrets to the sides, outside the wall for extra crossfire inside. (where the research+squad center / barracks +transport are)
I thought about moving all the turrets on the inside, and I might when I get to where I can build more walls. I tried the corner layout before, I may move back to it.
I've had better luck with corner bases only because its a risk for them to load in so close to the turrets and they get stuck by the wall until its gone.
Moved back to the corner, still trying to figure out where to put my credit markets and refineries.
Have you taken a look at the leader board? You can get some decent ideas of what to try in a base design. Not all of it works but it gets you on the right path IMO
I've looked at some of them, they all look walled into a corner with more turrets that I can build at this point.

Been having a good time with this design so far. I'm thinking ways to get turrets and mortars more distanced. I've finally understood the need to get all defense up to the same lvl as HQ so I stoped upgrading HQ to keep up with the rest. Don't have more than 4 credit and resource producers and all at lvl 4. Get more from pvp anyways.
All you can't see is scattered all over the map in an equal distance.
Yea...I'd decimate that base..just sayin
Ok, like how? What should I change? I know I have to strengthen but any change?
I'm not going to aid the enemy bro...maybe an imp will give you some advise. All I can say is at lvl 6-7 I see your kind of bases all the time...3 stars every time..no joke!

Yeah and you are level 7 right sin bag, I also 3 star weaker enemies..
I recall you saying in another thread that you always have 6 airstrikes ready, expensive but you 3 star all the time, no joke!
Having 6 airstrikes ready doesn't mean that someone uses 6 airstrikes to 3 star all his opponents.
I'm only HQ6, but I always have 5 airstrikes ready... but I can't tell you the last time that I had to actually use one.
Going through my attack history - 10 attacks - I have use air strikes exactly zero times.
